Peer Support Groups in Schools

Peer Support Groups are a way for young carers to gain support and form connections with other carers at their school.

These sessions allow young carers to share their feelings, gain support and learn valuable resources and skills for how to manage stress and emotions throughout their caring role.

Below is a practical guide for educators, non-teaching staff and leaders to provide young carers with peer support groups in education facilities.

Included in your download of the Young Carers Peer Support Group Toolkit is:

  • Information about Carers WA and who a young carer is.
  • Benefits of supporting young carers.
  • Things to consider before starting a peer support group.
  • Resources and activities to start and maintain a peer support group.
