Youth Mental Health – Support Person & Family Reference Group

Description

Are you…

  • Supporting or caring for a young person aged 13-24 who has experienced mental health distress, either currently or in the past?
  • A partner, friend, sibling, parent, relative, or other support person to a young person who is a current or recent (within the past 2 years) client of any of the following services:
    • Youth Axis
    • Youth Community Assessment and Treatment Team (YCATT)
    • Youth Hospital in the Home (YHITH)
    • YouthLink

Join the Support Person & Family Reference Group. Doing so will connect you with opportunities to get involved in shaping the Youth Mental Health Service, ensuring they always have you and your young person at the core of what they do.

What do these opportunities look like?

  • Participating in focus groups
  • Providing advice about brochures and resources
  • Evaluating services
  • Participating in research
  • Sitting on steering committees and advisory groups
  • Mix of in-person and online attendance options

How does it work?

Once you register your interest in joining the Reference Group, you will receive emails from the Youth Mental Health Service letting you know about upcoming opportunities. Opt into however many opportunities suits you, then get paid for coming.

Please note that we encourage all Reference Group members to register with Carers WA as Carer Representatives (we will help you with this if you’re keen). Not only does this ensure you get paid properly for your participation, but you will also get access to extra supports if you need them.
