About the YC Art Collab
In celebration of Carers Week 2024 we are inviting young people (aged 8-25yrs) to participate in a collaborative art project. Join online and create your own artwork step by step from home. You’ll be mentored through the process to create something of your own – no experience required!

About the Artist
Jinan Dodd is a multi-disciplinary Māori artist from Whakatane, New Zealand, currently based in Perth, Australia. Jinan specialises in painting large-scale murals that tell stories reflecting community and cultural values. Jinan’s work has been featured in public spaces throughout New Zealand.

Workshop Outline

1. 1. Introduction

• • Welcome and introduction.
  • Overview of the workshop.
  • Introduction to the theme of resilience using succulents.

1. 2. Warm-Up Exercise

• • Quick drawing exercise.
  • Drawing simple shapes or patterns inspired by succulents.

1. 3. Theme Exploration

• • Presentation of different succulent plants.
  • Discuss translating these elements into art.

1. 4. Drawing Techniques and Demonstration

• • Drawing techniques demonstration.

1. 5. Guided Drawing Session

• • Drawing your own succulents using demonstrated techniques.

1. 6. Sharing and Feedback

• • Invite participants to share their drawings with the group.
